Fiberglass Insulated Doors
Living in Canada, especially in the sometimes unpredictable Greater Toronto climate, it is sometimes difficult to find an entrance door that will not only protect from the severe cold we often face during the winter but also will not warp and distort under drastic changes of temperature. Windowtech is pleased to offer Fiberglass door solutions for our Greater Toronto (GTA), Mississauga, Hamilton and Kitchener/Waterloo clients, who are looking for a stylized entrance that is secure, durable and resistant to changes in climate.
With the abundance of entrance solutions available in the Greater Toronto Area, a lot of our clients often ask about the advantages of Fiberglass doors over traditional wood or even metal doors, and the response is simple: besides being engineered to withstand severe pressure and impact, thanks to a new technological innovation called “Accugrain”, fibreglass doors can duplicate the grain of real solid oak wood when stained, so telling them apart is virtually impossible. However, unlike traditional wood doors which can often bow under intense thermal conditions, our Fiberglass doors are fortified with 4” laminated wood jams to prevent warping and are protected around the edges with steel reinforcements much like our steel doors.
Because insulation is a primary concern for us as well as our clients, we use only HCFC-free polyurethane foam as insulation material, which results in roughly seven times greater insulation than traditional wood doors. This added insulation also does not come at the expense of the environment, since being HCFC-free, it is much safer for the ozone layer, has a low U-value and has been recognized by the Environmental Standards of Canada and meets the Ozone Protections Standard.
Lastly, our fibreglass doors are protected from the top and bottom with composite rails which protect against the unwanted intrusion of insects and most importantly from rotting, making them virtually maintenance and worry free.
Frame Options & Combinations:
All of our Fiberglass doors are fully adaptable to any standard-size opening and can also be customized for non-standard doorways. To further satisfy your inner design, frames are painted or stained to the exact colour and grain of the door finish for an impeccably smooth transition and perfect design compatibility. For more details on frame options and the variety of combinations, please see the Steel Insulated Doors section.
The choices with Fiberglass doors are virtually limitless when it comes to design and functionality, starting from smooth or wood finishes to a variety of glass inserts and stylish raised mouldings. For more information on the various glass options available, including stained and clear glass, wrought iron inserts, venting units, internal grills and mini-blinds, please see the Steel Insulated Doors section.
Colour & Stain Options:
The beauty of Fibreglass doors is that they can truly embrace nearly any finish our client’s desire, including smooth texture in any hue matching the exterior façade or a wood-grain effect, which can be stained to match any colour of natural wood, ranging from deep mahogany to birch. Your options for design are virtually limitless without the sacrifice of durability, longevity and fear of chipping.
Our recommendation to our clients for either steel or fibreglass doors is to install a multi-point lock system, since it is not only more secure and prevents the possibility of intrusion by spreading out force throughout the entire door , but is also more resistant to changes in temperature and will not warp. Locks are available in various colours and are finished to match the door choice. If, however, a client wishes to utilise his/her own lock, that is also an option. An in-house consultation can be scheduled to discuss these and other project options for any of our Greater Toronto (GTA), Mississauga, Hamilton and Kitchener/Waterloo area clients.
